SPRING BUSINESS MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, APRIL 9, 2007

The meeting was called to order by President Pat Dolphin at 7:01.  Thirty-Four officials were in attendance.

Executive Secretary Pinky Primrose presented the Minutes of the Fall Business Meeting.  Motion by Paul Schuetz and seconded by Jeff Frese to accept the Minutes as presented.  Motion carried.

Pinky presented the Financial Report.  As of April 1, 2007 the balance on-hand was $2,749.85.  Outstanding expenses are primarily related to the upcoming Annual Banquet.  The association is in good financial condition. Questions about day-to-day financial details can be discussed with any officer.  Motion by Dan Hilby and seconded by Pat Casey to accept the Financial Report as presented.  Motion carried.

The Executive Committee met on February 28, 2007.  Pat Dolphin reviewed the agenda of this meeting, which is included the financial review and the remaining agenda items for this meeting.

Pinky reviewed major items from the newsletter.
  -- This year is our 70th CRAOA Annual Banquet.  45-60 are expected to attend.
         Gary Dolphin, the voice of Iowa Hawkeye Athletics, will be our guest speaker.
  -- Basketball Officials did a better job on this year's Part II Exam. Cory
         Burkle was top score with 97.  15 members scored 90+, twenty scored 80+, and
         seven scored 70+. Six officials did not take the test. Amy Holocek was the
         top score among applying officials with 91.
  -- Keep the Arbiter up to date, including your schedule AND contact information.
  -- Make sure to complete your registration and pay fees to IHSAA and IGHSAU.
  -- Eight officials will be recognized at the banquet for longevity in CRAOA.

No communications were presented.  The Executive Committee had reviewed a handful of letters requesting membership requirement waivers for missed meetings.

No Old Business was discussed.

The Executive Committee nominated Chris Heidelbauer for Third Vice President (Basketball).  No further nominations were made.  Motion by Pat Casey and seconded by Harry Brown to accept Chris as 3rd VP.  Motion carried.

Applying Members were presented by Harry Brown.
   -- Motion by Paul Schuetz and seconded by Don Haugen to offer Full
          Membership to Matthew Bader, Jeremy Kohlhaas, Michael Koolbeck, Chad
          Osler, and Shane Remington as recommended by Harry.  Remington did
          receive a waiver on meeting attendance requirement due to new employment.
          Motion carried.
   -- Motion by Jeff Frese and seconded by Charlie Porter to promote Step I
          officials Epperson, Hilbach-Barger, Holocek, Jacobs, Johnson, Korn, Law,
          McAllister, Mullenbach, Oberbroeckling, Olson, Swales, Turner, and Winter
          to Step II as recommended by Harry.  Noted that three of these individuals
          missed games this year for varying reasons.  Motion carried.
    -- Motion by Pat Casey and seconded by Gordy Kennedy to maintain Step I
          official Phil Goodall at Step I per Harry's recommendation.  Others who
          have worked with Phil agreed.  Discussion included the need to send Phil
          a letter regarding his status and to limit him to Jr. High games next year.
          Motion carried.
   -- Motion by Jack Jaspers and seconded by Jerry Winter to extend Full
          Membership to Craig Murray.  Craig is a veteran official who missed some
          membership requirements last year and reapplied.  Motion carried.
  
Motion by Chris Heidelbauer and seconded by Deb Trimble to remove Scott Behn, John Dvorak, Dennis Higgins, Darrell Hobbs, Tyler Kivell, Terry Silberger from Active Membership to Step II for lack of Part II Exam.  Demarro Walton maintains Step I status for this reason.  Motion Carried.

Officials which failed to meet the required meeting attendance were all acted upon already for lack of Part II Exam.  (Higgins, Hobbs, Walton). Erin Blockhus maintains Step I status for this reason.

Motion by Harry Brown and seconded by Jerry Kadlec to drop Dan Colbert, Mike Voegel, and John Barkhurst from the roster for failure to pay dues or re-apply.  Motion carried.

There was discussion of handling of Junior High games.  Pinky will be working with School Administration to ensure that A/B games start on-time. Some schools were delaying the scheduled start time without proper communication for lengthy C games.  Schedule is tough due to the number of games on Tuesdays.  Veteran officials--please work some junior high games if you can!  This kids and coaches really appreciate your involvement.

Motion by Paul Schuetz seconded by Harry Brown to adjourn the meeting.  Motion carried at 7:44 PM.
