Time To Renew Your Membership: It is time once again to renew your membership in the C.R.A.O.A. A reminder that dues are still $30.00 for one sport and an additional $10.00 fee for the second. Dues must be paid before the first of August; otherwise a $5.00 per month fine will be assessed. Dues must be paid for your name to appear on the roster. August 1st is the beginning of the new year. This is the 61st year of the Association.

A Reminder To Update The Secretary: In order to have as few conflicts as possible, I would like for you to update your football schedule with me. I will be starting to schedule games the first part in early August, We have over 110 games to assign this fall. Only paid members will be assigned games.

We Are In Need Of Now Officials: Start looking for new members! We are in dire need of new officials who can work Middle School and some games on Friday nights, We will train them and give them some start-up games. Larry Walderbach is in charge of training the new officials; please contact Larry or Pinky if you know a prospective official who needs information,

Individuals who wish to officiate football and/or basketball through affiliation with the C.R.A.O.A. and its training program must initiate their intent by the following dates of the current season(s): Football--No later than the first regular C.R.A.O.A. meeting for football rules study.

Basketball--No later than the first regular C.R.A.O.A. meeting for basketball rules study.

Individuals who are beginning officials in football and/or basketball must meet the above guidelines to- receive training and game assignments through the C.R.A.O.A. Those who express an interest after the deadline times can officiate on their own or wait until the next year when the season for football and/or basketball returns.

Make Sure You Are Up to Date With The State Associations: A reminder to make sure you have paid your fees at the state level. Boy's Association: I.H.S.A.A., BOX 10, Boone, IA 50036, $30.00 for 2 sports and $10.00 for each additional sport.

Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, PO Box 10348, Des Moines, IA 50306-0348. $25.00 per sport plus $5.00 for each additional sport, $10.00 penalty after June 1, 2000.

Now Officers For 2000-2001: The new President is Rich Pohorsky (Football), First VicePresident is Jack Jaspers (Basketball/Football), Second Vice-President is Dan Hilsby (Football). Chairman of Steering Committee Rich Hersom (Basketball). If you have any concerns, please contact any of them.

Longevity Award: If you are one of the officials who have worked and belonged to the CRAOA for 10-15-20-25-30-35-40 years, please contact Pinky Primrose so we can make sure you will be recognized at the banquet this fall or next spring. We will only recognize you on your anniversary date.

Speakers At Meetings: We would like to thank the speakers who have volunteered to speak at the rules sessions. Please come to the meetings prepared and do not read from the rule book. We assume the officials will have read the rule book by then. You can refer to the rule book, but the biggest complaint from the officials is when presenters read from the rule book. In the second Session of each night we will meet as a position group -to discuss the topics discussed that night that will effect that position.

If you cannot fulfill this obl igation, please contact a sub and inform the secretary of the change.

Please Send In Your Social Security Number: I have had requests from school districts that they need your social security #. Please send your number along on the calendar and registration sheet. The IRS wants the schools to have this information. We will try to comply with the request.

Richard Koolbeck and Ev Petersen were Honored By the National Federation (NFOA) Awards Banquet In Des Moines: Rich Koolbeck and Ev Petersen went to Des Moines last May to receive the (NFOA) Distinguished Official Award from the National Federation. Richard Koolbeck is the recipient of the central section Distinguished Official Award and Ev Petersen was recognized for his expertise and work in officiating specific sports. Congratulations to Rich and Ev.

Ev Petersen Enters Officials Hall Of Fame: Ev Petersen was a recent honoree to the IHSAA Officials Hall of Fame. He is the 12 th CRAOA member to be honored. Congratulations to Ev. Other Hall of Famers are: Len Benhart, Ray Hamad, Richard Koolbeck, Randy Krejci, John Lowry, Bud Paulsen, Lanny Peterson, James Schneekloth, Bob Tvrdik, Bob Vrbicek and Fred Winter.

A Few Reminders About Membership To CRAOA: These are some of the requirements that make our organization one of the best! 1/ You must take and pass the state supervised test in your sport area. 2/ You must attend a minimum of three (3) local rules meetings per sport, New officials and applying officials must attend six (6). 3/ Officials must officiate six (6) or more games per season per sport. 4/ The Association does not procure officiating assignments for you! 5/ The C.R.A.O.A. does administer the Middle School, Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Varsity schedules of the Metro public schools.
