Sixty-third Fall Dinner: Everyone is invited to attend the 63rd Annual Fall. Banquet to be held at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel, Thursday, November 11, 1999, starting with cocktails at 6:15 p.m. and dinner around 7:15 p.m. We will have, a cash bar. The featured speaker will be Steve Miller, Football Coach at Cornell College. A reminder that one meal is free with your membership.; Please fill out the reservation card promptly and return it to Pinky Primrose.

Meeting Reminder: A reminder that the Annual Business Meeting will be held Monday, November 8,1999 at Washington High School, in room 116. An active member of the Association must attend a least one of the two meetings that are held each year. At this meeting, we will review applying members, listen to report from the Executive Committee, discuss members who did not meet the requirements set forth in the Constitution and By-Laws. Other reminders are the State Rules Meeting for Basketball at Marion High School, Thursday, November 18 at 7:30 P. M.

Top Test Scores: The top Football Part 11 test score went to Ron Peiffer with a 96. Scott Anderson and Joe Schmall'hn-d 94. Thirteen ofricials had 90+, thirty-one officials scored 80+, twenty-four officials had 70+. Five officials failed the test, Seven officlials did not take the test. The highest test scores for applying officials were Marv Lincoln with a 94 and Tom Ratchford with a 90.

Longevity Awards: The following officials will be recognized at the banquet for the longevity to CRP. A--Larry Walderbach, 30 years. We will also honor Bill Yeisley for his many years of service for running the new football official program for the Association.

Crews Receive Play-offs: As of this writing, three crews received play-off invitations. They are Richard Koolbeck, Randy Krejci, Bill Yeisley, Jim Patterson and Kevin Thorp. Darrell Hobbs, Ron Peiffer, Brad White, Darwin Carstensen, Mark Borchardt and Jack Jaspers.

A Reminder To Update The Secretary: We need to update for the 2000 football season. Enclosed you will find a 2000 & 2001 up ate sheet. Please fill it out and return as soon as possible.

Basketball Season Upon Us: We are still looking for new basketball officials. If you are interested in working basketball, please contact Harry Brown. We have 10 new applying basketball officials this year. We hope we can retain half of them in the next two years. We are in real need of more basketball officials in the area. We have over 850 games to assign just in the Metro area. That does not include the Varsity level. If anyone can work 3:45 p.m. games, please contact the Executive Secretary.

Thanks to the meeting presenters: We would like to thank all the presenters who gave the rule presentation. The test scores are up a little, and also a big thanks to Bill Yeisley and Harry Brown for setting up the presenters.

Some Past History:

40 Years Ago: 1959, meeting was held at the Sheraton-Montrose Hotel with 40 members in attendance. Jerry Gunsten, Harold Miller and Jim Potter were accepted into football membership. Honorary Status went to Jim Freeman, Hap Wilson, Tom Murphy, Howard Wilfong and Les Grigg. Three members were charged with noncompliance with requirements for continued membership. All three were dropped. The type of meeting to be held in the spring was discussed. It was suggested the wives be invited to one of our meetings. Bob Tvrdik immediately came to the rescue of all brow-beaten officials, stating he did not think it advisable to invite the wives. Len Benhart and Ray Hamad were recognized for working in the state tournament. Emil Klumpar was president. The meeting was adjourned in favor of "rummy".

35 Years Ago: 1964, the President was Len Benhart. The meeting was held at the Town House. Bob Suter was the guest speaker. $108.30 was in the treasury. Full approval went to Jim Meskimen and Don Ferguson. Approved temporary membership to Dean Oderkirk. Three officials were dropped for non-compliance.

30 Years Ago: 1969, the business meeting was held at the Ced-Rel Supper Club. Tom Ecker gave a brief talk. Fully approved officials were Tom Singer, Hamode Hasson, Jim Patterson and Lyn Haines. Honorary status went to Tom Murphy and Sam Cooper. Bill Brousard was president.

25 Years Ago: 1974, Jack Christenson was president. The business meeting was held at Cleveland School. We had a balance of $829.17. The dinner was held at the Ronneberg Inn in Amana. Sixty members and wives were in attendance. Newly approved officials were John Ask, Randy Krejci and Ev Peterson. The constitution was updated at this meeting.

20 Years Ago: 1979, Len Ransom was president. The business meeting was held at Washington High School. Bill Yeisley's football crew will be responsible for the recruitment, training, evaluation and assimilation of new officials for football. The fall dinner was held at the Ronneberg Restaurant in Amana. Applying members were Gary Howard, Doug Henderson, Rick Mason, Richard Pohorsky, Cliff Root, Max Stanley, Richard Wheeler, Lou Wiegand. Jack Fette, N.F.L. official was the featured speaker.

15 Years Ago: 1984, Ron Sommers was president. We had $988.24 in the checking account. The dinner was held at the Highlander Inn; a bus was provided. Eddie Phillips was the guest speaker. Full membership went to Steve Fish, Bob Hill, Marv Hoyt and John Wilson. Walt Ingram was approved as a transfer. It was approved that we continue with 2 for I rules meeting. It was approved that officials must attend one of the two General Meetings.

10 Years Ago: 1989, President was Larry Palmer. We had $2,928.32 in our checking and saving account. George Volk (15) and Dick Pohorsky (10) received their longevity awards at the banquet. A pay increase for officials was recommended. The banquet was held at the Stouffers Five Seasons Hotel. The following officials were approved. Dave Brousard, Pat Casey, Steve Hamilton, Brian Rohr, Eric Stenberg, Leigh Webber. Shawn Hanson was approved as a transferfrom North Dakota.

5 Years Ago: 1994, President was Richard Hejda. The banquet was at Stouffers Five Seasons Hotel. Larry Waiderbach received his Twenty-Year Award, Dick Pohorsky received his Fifteen-Year Award, Warren Byerly received his Ten-Year Award and Five-Year Recognition went to Dave Brousard, Steve Hamilton, Brian Rohr and Leigh Webber. Full membership was awarded to Brad Butchi, Greg Edwards, Scott Griffin, Darrell Hobbs, Kevin McKenna and Mike Winchester.
